Less than a year after his success in the election for Governor of New York, the Great Depression began, the greatest economic crisis of the 20th century. Between Thursday 24 October and Tuesday 29 October 1929, the quotations on the New York Stock Exchange collapsed. These days are known as Black Thursday (24 October), Black Monday (28 October) and Black Tuesday (29 October). These three fateful days are etched in the memory of the fellows.
